House Bagged!

I warned you all that I would be posting pictures of the outside of the house from this trip! You can start from the top if you want to and work your way down because they are mostly in chronological order. You will probably get a good sense of the surroundings of the house and part of the neighborhood from these pictures.

Max, the kids, and I took our third trip to Derby, KS to close on the Partridge Cir house. We stayed at our friends', the Fishes, house, but spent a lot of time at our house after the closing on Friday morning, freshening it up and working on a few projects. I went back to the Fishes' home during naptimes while Max fixed some things in the house, like the fence where Zephyr could get out and the central vac (which works well now!), and he also freshened up the carpets with some good smelling chemicals and vacuumed them up. We also left windows open anytime we were in the house to let fresh fall breezes in.

The last thing we did before leaving the house to come back to Altus was to measure all of the windows so that I could brainstorm about blinds and curtains and possibly order some or even make some. I think the bedrooms and bathrooms will be first priority and then the rest of the house. I am looking forward to this challenge as it will be the first time I have had to think up blinds and curtains for any house!

We are looking forward to getting our household goods in mid-November and have been discussing where everything will go. Max will probably still be in training when the goods come so it will make it easier for me to tell the movers where to put the furniture when they bring it in. We are hoping that Max's mom, Michele, will be able to be there with me and the kids when the movers come.

Enjoy the many pictures of the outside of our new home in Kansas!

View from deck toward our neighbors to the west. Gloria was fascinated by the blown up pumpkin in the neighbors' front yard.

NE corner of backyard

Nice big trees line the outside of the fence.

View toward NW corner of backyard.

View toward SW corner of backyard.

View toward SE corner of backyard.

View of the side of the house, deck, and chimney.

We had all of the windows open to air out the house.

View NW from the front of the back yard. If you walk out the gate in the back where the bird feeder is, there is a common area back there that has trees and mowed grass and a stream a little bit further on. There's no house back there because it is in a flood plain.

Gloria pondering whether she can make it down the stairs.

Side/back yard.

You can see where our backyard extends to the west (on the left in this picture). We like the fence in the backyard even though it had a few places where Zephyr could escape since she's such a small pooch.

Straight on view from across the street.

A view of the whole front from across the street.

A view NW from across the street.

Our side yard extends to where I took this picture from. What you see of the house here is the side of the garage.

You can see the nice trees we have in front of our house. JB likes collecting acorns from the big one. Our neighbors are into Nascar and that's what the trailer is for in their driveway.

A different angle...

A nice fall day.

Cul-de-sac neighborhood. You can see three driveways from this perspective and we have already met two of the three neighbors. I have also met our neighbors directly across the street.

Northeast view from the driveway. Our property extends over to the tree right behind the basketball hoop in this picture. Then towards the street it extends out in kind of a wedge shape past the second tree. Max is thinking a riding lawn mower will be the way to go.

The beetle that we've been told hatches in the fall and all die by the first freeze...harmless.

View to the west.

Our neighbors across the way.

Plenty of mini vans across the street!

View to East from front walkway.

Little beetles climbing our walls.

View from porch to SW.

Full view of porch and bushes beyond.

Look what I found mom!

Cute picture.

Yay, porch swing!

Gloria had a good time "fast" walking up and down the porch.

Gloria looking off the deck right outside of the laundry room. View of kitchen window.

The swing set.

SW view from the backyard.

"I made it! Now what do I do?"

"I like my new fort!" This is the fort/swingset in our new backyard.

Timid slider.

Should I do it?

"Come on JB, watcha waitin' for?"

Slide fun. It's one of the old tin slides and it's very sturdy.

The hike up to the fort.

Should I be a good brother and help her up?

"Come on Gloria, you can do it!" He's getting to be a sweet brother more and more.

Do we have to come in now?

JB was very interested in helping his Dad start the fire.

May be the site of future family photos...
